National Short Story MonthThis whole idea came from a post by Dan Wells to challenge everyone to write one short story every day for a month beginning April 1st. The rules are simple: 1. Write a story at least 200 words in length, I didn't write on Saturdays or Sundays but still managed to get 30 stories. Here is a list of the titles and a brief description of all of the stories I wrote. If I ever get around to poasting them I will link them here as well. 1. Weight of the World (787) - PDF – One of the best stories involving Greek mythology. (Mythology) 2. Pseudonym (792) – Kind of talks about the dangers of social networks. (Fiction) 3. BLT (239) – This is a zombie story. (Horror) 4. Text (1,415) – This came from a writing prompt about someone receiving a text message they shouldn't. (Fiction) 5. The Ninja's Shadow (1,008) - PDF – Because ninjas are awesome. (Fantasy) 6. The Dotted Man and the Death Storm (952) – Background story for one of the characters from my novel. (Science Fiction) 7. Escape (1,878) – A sequel short story to my Game Over novel. (Science Fiction) 8. Edgar the Elephant: Tooth Fairy (297) - PDF – This is another story about the career hunting elephant. (Children's) 9. Diplomat of the Desert (1,683) - PDF – This story was because I wanted to write about a nomadic people and magic. (Fantasy) 10. Daydreams in Darkness (1,421) - PDF – I wanted to write a story that involved gas masks. (Science Fiction) 11. Sightless (1,076) - PDF – Wanted to write a believable world through the eyes of a blind man. (Fantasy) 12. Fiber Smoothie (599) – A fun story based on a real life event. (Fiction) 13. Life and Death (1,445) - PDF – I have no idea where this came from but deals with sacrifice. (Fantasy) 14. Fight (4,562) – This is the third short story for an anthology. (Steam Punk) 15. Layoffs (1,554) – Started out as a modern Mikado. (Fiction) 16. The Lion's Pride (1,071) – This story is a time travel slave hunters that didn't turn out nearly as cool as I expected. (Science Fiction) 17. Bear (988) - PDF – Fairy tale I wrote after I finished reading Snow White and Rose Red. (Fairy Tale) 18. Escape* (445) - PDF – A story about a prison break. Not to be confused with the first Escape. (Horror) 19. Proposition (1,070) – A poorly written Western. (Western) 20. Infection (918) - PDF – I wanted to write about a medical person in war time. (Science Fiction) 21. Storm (483) – A ship in the middle of a storm. (Fantasy) 22. Onward (296) - PDF – Came from a writing prompt on a friend's blog. (Fiction) 23. Rain (719) - PDF – Writing prompt of two people who hate each other sharing a cab. (Fiction) 24. Unscheduled Appointments (870) – Another try at edgy that failed but has potential. (Horror) 25. Shadows of Light (269) – I wanted to do something with shadows not being what they seem to be. (Fantasy) 26. Midnight Dance (797) – A story about a lonely waitress and her dreams. (Fiction) 27. Forgotten Memories (740) - A story about spheres that can store memories. (Science Fiction) 28. To Be Human (454) - PDF – The story of a piano and a soldier. (Fiction) 29. Photo Finish (620) - PDF – Wanted to write something dark and involving a photo album. (Horror) 30. Choice (1,943) – This is a short story version of my first novel. (Science Fiction)
